Platy’s Flush Fever: The Art of Harvesting, Drying & Riding the Waves
The mycelium breathes in cycles. Listen close, harvest with reverence, and you’ll ride the rhythm of the realm.”
There’s an ancient pulse to the flush—a cosmic rhythm that connects cultivator to colony. Knowing when to harvest-and how to reset for future waves is part science, part sorcery.
When to Harvest: Read the Signs
Standard Cubes:
- Watch for the veil to start tearing. Don’t wait for full cap flattening—by then, spores are already launching.
- Pick just as the veil breaks for max potency and minimal mess.
Albinos & Low-Spore Mutants (Platy’s favourites):
- Let them ride long. These gnarly beasts take time to show their true form.
- Harvest late for chunky stems, twisted caps, and madness incarnate.
- Spores are minimal, mess is rare—maximise mass, baby.
Harvest the Psycho Platy Way
- Twist and pull gently—don't rip or stab. You're not hunting demons.
- Scissors or scalpels work for dense clusters—clean cuts mean happy sub.
- Respect the fruit, and the network will surge again.
“Harvest not in haste, but with honour. This is their moment, and yours.”
Post-Harvest Ritual
- Pick every last fruit and pin.
Optional Psycho Platy Boost:
- Give a heavy misting with honey water to nourish the substrate.
- Or, soak the tub in revival tea (Platy’s Revival Soak) for 4–12 hours if it's looking dry or depleted.
- Drain well, then place back into fruiting conditions.
Preserve the Magick: Drying Your Harvest
- Use a food dehydrator set to max 131°F / 55°C — Platy’s ideal temp.
- Dry until cracker dry—they should snap, not bend.
- Never sun-dry or air-dry alone—potency loss and mold are real demons.
Platy Tip: Store dried fruits in airtight jars with desiccant packs.
What to Expect for Future Flushes
- 2nd Flush: Often more uniform, and can bring the real monsters.
- 3rd+: Yield drops, but potency can rise. Ride it out, or spawn anew.
“The tub will tell you when it’s done. Until then, ride every wave like it’s the last.”
Signs of a Healthy Flush Cycle
- No mold, no foul smell
- Strong consolidation after harvest
- Pinners show within 3–5 days
- Thick, white mycelium reclaims the battlefield
Platy’s Madness Tips
- Between flushes, use your mister bottle with a touch of honey water to encourage regrowth.
- Keep the tub humid and airy—don’t suffocate the network.
- Journal your flushes—track the wild phenos, the monsters, the late bloomers.
The Final Flush Word
"Each flush is a song. First light. Then symphony. Then silence. The true mycologist learns not just to grow—but to listen."
—Psycho Platy
